Good morning, Britni!

As we welcome in the holiday season, this month we are announcing:

  • New York City Health Bucks Coupon Update!

  • Registration for the 2024 NYS Farmers Market Manager’s Virtual Conference is OPEN!

  • It’s Coupon Season! Double-check the submission rules!

New York City Health Bucks Update

Due to the paper type of the New York City Health Bucks, you may have noticed your FMNP stamp not drying. It’s quite amusing to pull out a packet of coupons and find out it’s a solid brick! It’s less amusing to then have to separate each and every coupon to ensure the correct count… unfortunately, this dramatically slows down our processing rate. So in an effort to speed up our NYC Health Bucks payments to farmers, farmers only need to stamp the FIRST and LAST coupon in each bundle. This identifies each bundle of coupons as yours. This will save time, ink, and patience on your end, and many hand cramps from peeling apart coupons on our end, and will help speed up processing times! It’s a win-win all around!

To summarize, here’s the new rules for 2023 Health Bucks:

  • Only stamp the FIRST coupon and LAST coupon in a bundle.

  • Bundle them up in rubber bands, if possible.

  • Clearly state the count of coupons on your redemption form

  • THIS IS ONLY VALID FOR NEW YORK CITY HEALTH BUCKS. All other coupon types (FMNP, FreshConnect, etc) MUST BE STAMPED AS USUAL.

It’s Coupon Season! Tips & Tricks to Get Your Reimbursement Faster!

I think I see Brenda in there somewhere…

Please make sure that your coupons are well-packaged. Be aware that standard envelopes can tear easily while being processed, so for any larger amount of coupons (more than 20 or so), we advise that coupons be sent packaged inside something more sturdy like a cardboard box. We are not responsible for any coupons lost in the mail.

REMEMBER THE DEADLINES!

Coupons MUST be postmarked by these dates, or they risk not being processed and not being paid out.

FMNP — December 15th

Fresh Connect – January 15th

Health Bucks — January 15th

COUPON DROP-OFF OPTION IS AVAILABLE

If you'd prefer to drop off your coupons in person rather than mail them in, that is an option! In order to do a coupon drop-off, we only need to be aware that you will be coming in. Coupon drop-off times are Monday through Friday, 12:00pm - 4:00pm. Drop-offs outside of those hours can be arranged over the phone.

Please let us know you're coming by emailing admin@nyfarmersmarket.com or calling 315-400-1447.

Our office is at:

109 Twin Oaks Drive

Syracuse, NY 13206

We are just off of Exit 35 of the New York State Thruway. We are a short dark brick building with an awning out front. Parking and entrance are in the back of the building, at the glass atrium. Once inside, take a right up the ramp!

Here are more tips and tricks to get us all through coupon season!

Send smaller batches, more frequently

Send smaller batches throughout the year to get reimbursed more frequently - making it a little easier on your budgeting for the year, and ensuring that we don’t get a massive deposit of coupons all at once.

To get payment out faster for more farmers, extra large batches will be put at the back of the line, depending on the quantity of coupons delivered. Batches of 15,000 or more coupons will be added to the back of the line so that more farmers can receive prompt payment.

Be mindful of the deadlines!

Please remember that your coupons must be postmarked by the date on the back of the coupon.

  • Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), the $5 coupons must be postmarked or dropped off at our office by December 15th, 2023.

  • Fresh Connect Checks as well as New York City Health Bucks, the $2 coupons — must be postmarked or dropped off at our office by January 15th, 2024.

Remember the coupon rules!

  • A redemption form must be included, with your FMNP number, who you want the check written out to, and the address where you want to receive the check. Forms are available through the link above or on our website under Resources.

  • Coupons must be stamped with your FMNP stamp, Fresh Connect Checks can be initialed if you don’t have a stamp.

  • They need to be well packaged in a secure box or envelope, we are not responsible for any coupons lost in transit.

  • Coupons need to be orderly and easy to process - all coupons should be facing the same direction, with no staples of any kind, and the barcode should not be damaged, stamped, or written on. Coupons shouldn’t be stuck together with any sort of tape, dried ink, or staples. Please note that staples will damage our equipment.

  • They should be bundled or banded in some way to keep them orderly through the mail system.

Failure to follow these instructions takes considerable time on our end to get them ready for processing. This will cause your coupons to be delayed in processing as all others will be processed first.
